…from a beautiful soul. Give this a read, may just help you to understand something about yourself.
Love is all there is, no thing else is real. It makes my heart full to hear that ego didn’t win in this time around.
I’ve been keeping relatively quiet with the gay marriage subject, because I really think were going about it wrong way. Hear me out…
I am willing to concede that the term “marriage”, is primarily a religious “institution”, for a lack of better words.
Having stated that; one of the founding principles of the United States of America is the separation of church and state. So it seems to me, that the government just needs to eliminate word “marriage”, replace it with something like “civil unions” across the board. Then it remains a separation of church and state, and takes the power away from what makes some people feel fearful.
Quite honestly, I couldn’t care less about being able to get “married”, in the eyes of the government, or a church, but I will take the same rights as any other tax paying citizen of this country.
I guess in the end it doesn’t really matter. The ultimate outcome is the same. Love will always prevail, it’s all that is!
My best friend posted something on her facebook wall today, here’s the post…
“Don’t like gay marriages? Don’t get one. Don’t like cigarettes? Don’t smoke them. Don’t like abortions? Don’t get one. Don’t like sex? Don’t have it. Don’t like drugs? Don’t do them. Don’t like porn? Don’t watch it. Don’t like alcohol? Don’t drink it. Don’t like guns? Don’t buy one. Don’t like your rights taken away? Don’t take away someone else’s.”
I find it very baffling, how the United States was founded on the principles of independence and freedom can/has evolved into what it is today. Seems to me the purpose was a “live and let live” agenda, this has not been my experience here. Is it perhaps, time for a do-over? 😉
Why is it so difficult for people to live their lives without trying to control what other people do or don’t do? What is “right” for you is not necessarily so for everyone else. Do what serves you and leave the rest to the rest.
Food for thought.
